UTME 2017: JAMB with CBT centre owners meet

Arrangements have been concluded to have an interaction between the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and owners of Computer Based Test (CBT) centres in the country ahead of the 2017 UTME.
This statement was made by the board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, made the disclosure in a statement made available to journalists on Monday in Lagos.
According to the statement, the meeting which comes up on Tuesday at the University of Lagos is to fine tune all areas of challenges geared towards conducting a hitch-free examination in 2017.
It said that the meeting would determine the number of centres to be used for 2017 all CBT Unified Tertiary Matriculation Board (UTME) exercise.
“These are centres that must have a minimum of 250 and above terminals (computers).

“We will not hesitate to disqualify any centre that falls short of the requirements,’’ the statement said.
“We will equally not compromise on the selection of these centres as they will fully be responsible for our registration and examinations and other related responsibilities that they will be saddled with from time to time as we introduce new measures.’’
It added that the board decided to come face to face with owners of these centre to ensure it got first-hand information on the challenges they were faced with in the course of the examinations.
“As partners in progress, we need to sit down on a round table and tell each other the truth so as to get to the root of all the hiccups.
“We should all feel concerned even if it was just one centre that had challenges or hitches during the conduct of the last examination.
“Nigerians expect a lot from us and we must strive not to fail them.
“We are looking at strengthening what was done holistically to improve on the previous exercises,’’ the statement quoted the board’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede as saying.
It added that the board was committed to giving Nigerians globally accepted standard in the conduct of the examinations.
The statement said that the board would commence the sale of application forms soon and urged prospective candidates not to patronise any self-acclaimed agent as the board had not and would not appoint any.
It urged candidates to always visit the board’s website for information.
The statement noted that in a few months, the board had been working tirelessly on processes that were connected to the conduct of the examination.
It added that the board had taken stock of all the challenges that were recorded during the 2016 exercise, especially CBT centre related issues.
It said the board had resolved to give every Nigerian child desirous of tertiary education a level playing ground to compete for the available space in these tertiary institutions.
“We are mindful of the fact that any child that writes in a dysfunctional centre is at disadvantage.
“All candidates must have same conditions, atmosphere and working facilities,’’ the statement said.

First Nokia smartphone specs: 3GB RAM, 4000 mAh, SnapDragon 821

First Nokia smartphone specs: 3GB RAM, 4000 mAh, SnapDragon 821

Nokia is alway an awaited brand in the fast-growing market. Skip the launched date or the price, which specs you expected to see on a new Nokia smartphone. Today, let’s consider
First Nokia smartphone specs: A newcomer in Android segment
First and foremost, users are waiting for a big innovation from Nokia. As the result, if and when the company want to come back this year, we probably see an Android device. So, the first feature that many want to see on a new Nokia phone, of course, an Android OS. For instance, the recent Nokia device (Nokia D1C) leaked on GFX benchmark with Android Os, expected to be Android 7.0 Os.
Especially, if you are a true Nokia’s fan, you’ll dream of a SnapDragon processor on a new Nokia phone. As mentioned, if a new Nokia phone comes with an Android 7.0 OS, we can completely expect to see a powerful processor. Through 2016, we have heard some Nokia smartphone with SnapDragpn 820. So, a new Nokia phone likely shows up with the SnapDragon 820 (or even with SnapDragon 821 as some recent rumours).
Apart from those expected specs, a new smartphone from Nokia could be powered by 3GB RAM. We could see more Nokia devices in the future with bigger RAM (4GB RAM or even 6GB RAM). However, for now, a 3GB RAM is a suitable choice if the Finnish brand wants to take part in the mid-range segment.
First Nokia smartphone : Price
With Android 7.0 Os, SnapDragon 821 processor paired with 3GB RAM, we believe a new Nokia phone won’t be a budget phone. However, when Nokia makes a debut, users still wait for a special offer from this brand. As the result, a price from $250 – $300 is quite suitable. Now, tell us which specs do you want to see on a new Nokia smartphone? Share with us!

WHAT’S NEW? – A QUICK REVIEW

From the details above , its obvious that a lot of effort went into the design and overall specifications of this device. Here’s what’s new on the Tecno Phantom 6 :
1. Two Variants :
This year , TECNO Mobile launched two variants of this device ; The Phantom 6 and Phantom 6 Plus. Both smartphones differ in their screen size and internal specifications.

phantom-6-and-6-plus

Phantom 6 Plus is the bigger smartphone , with a 6.0 inch FHD LTPS Capacitive touch screen 4GB RAM , 64GB Storage and 4050mAh battery.
On the other hand  , the Phantom 6 is smaller than the 6 Plus , and has a 5.5 inch AMOLED screen , 3GB RAM , 32GB internal storage and 2700mAh battery.
2.  A 5 Layer Metal Design :
One of the unique selling point of the new Tecno Phantom 6 is its incredible design and slim body ; totally different from what we saw on the Phantom 5 .
Tecno Phantom 6  has a 5 layer Full metal body to provide more durability. The back is slightly curved to enable a more firm grip.

Each layer adds a unique element to the overall appearance of the device. From bottom up, the body is made up of a Nano molding seamless metal unibody, a firm fastener, a non-detachable battery design , and an aluminum magnesium alloy frame. The corning gorilla glass v3.0 helps protect the screen from scratch and cracks from heavy falls.
3. High-End Camera :
If you love pictures , the Phantom 6 (and 6 Plus) will definately interest you because it comes with world class camera sensors manufactured by SONY.
The camera setup on the Phantom 6 is a little bit sophisticated and different from what we’re used to.
Tecno Phantom 6 comes with 18MP back camera , however , the camera was split into two different sensors ; one with 13MP and the other with 5MP resolution , making a total of 18MP.
The 13MP camera detects the view  , while the 5MP camera provides more depth and clarity to the picture.
If we can recall , this same camera setup was used on the Huawei P9 and the iPhone 7 Plus smartphone.
For taking selfies & videos , the Phantom 6 relies on an 8MP front camera with LED flash.

On the other hand , the Phantom 6 Plus has a single back camera with 21MP resolution , while the front camera has a resolution of 8MP , with LED Flash.
4. Improved Hardware & Faster Processor :
In terms of hardware , the Phantom 6 Plus has a more powerful processor than the phantom 6. It uses a Deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 chipset , which is very fast and battery efficient. MediaTek revealed that the Helio X20 chipset saves battery by 30% , despite its high performance.
Along side this powerful chipset , the Phantom 6 Plus relies on 4GB RAM for effective multitasking , and 64GB ROM for data storage. However , it is important to know that the Phantom 6 Plus DOES NOT come with an external SD card slot. Instead , it comes with an Hybrid SIM setup , which means that you can choose to use one of the sim slots as a memory card slot.
As for the Phantom 6 , it uses a 2.0 Ghz MediaTek chipset for information processing , 3GB RAM for multitasking , and 32GB ROM for media storage. If you want more space , there’s an external SD card slot of up to 128GB.
5. Better Security :
Smartphone security is really important because our personal information will be at risk if hacked. The Phantom 6 provides a biometric iris scanner which scans you eyes before unlocking the device. And if you want more security , you can get the Phantom 6 Plus which comes with both the iris scanner and a fingerprint reader at the back.
6. Android 6.0 Marshmallow :
Both devices run on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system , along side TECNO’s custom User Interface called HiOs.

phantom-6-home-screen

HiOs provides better customization , and a collection of themes and wallpapers to choose from.
7. USB TYPE-C :
The Tecno Phantom 6 (and 6 Plus) supports USB TYPE-C port which allows for reversible plug orientation, fast charging and data transfer from Phantom 6 to other devices. This is the first time a technology like this is used on a TECNO device.
8. Battery Life :
In terms of battery , the Phantom 6 has a lesser battery capacity than we expected. It comes with a 2700mAh battery with rapid charge. The battery should take you through at least 7 hours of heavy usage.
On the other hand , the Phantom 6 Plus comes with a 4050mAh battery which should take you a full day of heavy usage without recharge.

Tecno Phantom 6 Plus v Phantom 6

I’m sure by now you’re wondering the difference between the Phantom 6 plus and the Phantom 6.
Both devices are different and similar in many ways :
  1. Phantom 6 Plus comes with a bigger Screen
  2. 6 Plus has more RAM than the Phantom 6
  3. Phantom 6 plus comes with both fingerprint scanner and iris scanner , while phantom 6 supports iris scanner

Niger Delta Avengers end ceasefire, bomb oil pipeline in Bonny

Militant group, Niger Delta Avengers, have ended their ceasefire as the group attacked the Bonny 48 inches crude oil Export Line yesterday evening at about 8.40pm. The group announced the new attack on its website. Read the statement below On the 23rd September 2016, our strike team at 20:40PM hours time has brought down oil productions activities at the Bonny 48 inches crude oil Export Line.

This action is a signature to the over dramatization of the so-called dialogue and negotiation process on the side of President Muhammadu Buhari and his government. Since, the cessation of hostilities and the commitment of the PAN Niger Delta Elders and stakeholders team, the Nigerian government and her agents are turning the expectations of the Niger Delta to shameful scenes obtainable in Nollywood acts and as well intimidations, blackmails and continuous profiling of Niger Delta sons and daughters.

This is only a wake up call; we may not have other way to say it better. We are still in favour of the dialogue and negotiations but we are warning against " the peace of our time!

We want the peace with honour”. We will resist all actions undermining the ceasefire from side of the government and it security agents/ agencies. The world is watching, time is running against the Nigerian state; while we were promised that the concerns of Niger Delta will be addresses once a truce is declared, the activities of the government and her agents are not assuring enough, there has been no progress and no breakthrough.

We cannot be continuously fooled, the government cannot justify the indiscriminate targeting of Niger Delta youths while glorifying on these victimization of law abiding citizens of the region

Treachery! Military Officers Aligned, Collaborated With Boko Haram

A report from the Nigeria Army on Thursday, September 1, has confirmed that some military officials betrayed the country through their treacherous act. They were selling arms and ammunition to Boko Haram.

According to the theatre commander, Operation Lafia Dole, Major General Lucky Irabor, who disclosed the information to reporters in Yola, the suspected officers were already facing a court-martial.

The Commander who had visited Adamawa State to inspect newly acquired warplanes to be used in fight against the Islamist sect, said military operations would continue until the terrorists is completely wiped out of the country.

“There is no going back in the fight against terrorism in the northeastern region of the country. We are going to continue heavy attacks in Sambisa Forest and other areas Boko Haram are occupying until they are completely cleared from the zone,”he said.

Irabor acknowledge there are still towns in Borno State under control of the sect, but he assured there is no local government totally under Boko Haram’s control.

“They are hiding in few towns. But very soon, we will recapture them,”he said.

He described a recent video showing girls abducted from Chibok town by Boko Haram as fake and insisted that the clip was the product of a desperate and fading terrorist group, struggling to prove it is still active, quote,“The video is an evidence of defeat and the mental torture Boko Haram is suffering,”he said.

The military have gradually advanced its intelligence in the war against the terrorists and just yesterday, Buzznigeria learned that one of Army fighter jets had carried out an attack on a location where some injured top leaders of Boko Haram were hiding inside Borno.

According spokesman for the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, Ayodele Famuyiwa, the air raid was effected following intelligence that revealed that some of the Boko Haram commanders had fled to take refuge and medical care at secret camp called Tumbun Rego.

However, NAF is yet to ascertain the casualty figure, but they released a video of the post-strike Battle Damage Assessment mission which showed that the degree of damage achieved was devastating as the buildings were engulfed by large fire. Hence Irabor said, “fight against Boko Haram continues until when Boko Haram drop their arms or when we are able to crush them. It can be tomorrow or in the next 20 years. Terrorism war can last 50 years.”
