The Science Behind Why Climbing Mount Everest Is A Non-Stop Horror Show

Everest has always been a dangerous place, and 2016 has just seen its deadliest week of the season. Five people have lost their lives and one still remains missing.

A 25-year-old named Phurbu Sherpa fell while trying to fix a route just 150 meters below Everest’s summit last Thursday. Eric Arnold of the Netherlands died the day after while coming back from the summit–his body was just retrieved yesterday. Maria Strydom of Australia and Indian climber Subash Paul were also killed, and their fellow climbers have yet to achieve the difficult and dangerous task of bringing their bodies lower on the mountain where they can be picked up by helicopter. The body of Paul’s teammate, Paresh Chandra Nath was only just located, and Goutam Ghosh, the final member of their team, still remains missing.

Whenever these first deaths of the season happen–and they inevitably do–it’s easy to say that Everest just isn’t what it used to be. Many of those who perish are a part of the guiding industry–either clients, Western guides or Sherpas–that have overtaken the mountain in recent decades. Some might say that Everest was once was the zenith of exploration, and today it’s a circus of guided groups, frozen bodies and undecomposed human waste. And while it’s true that the experience of climbing Everest has changed dramatically, many of the challenges involved in an ascent remain the same. Here’s the science behind why Everest is such a dangerous and deadly place:

Acute mountain sickness (AMS) is a whole host of symptoms that can occur due to reduced air pressure and oxygen levels at high altitude. Minor symptoms include dizziness, headaches, loss of appetite, and nausea (climbers often describe it as feeling like a hangover). While many–if not the majority–of Everest climbers will experience AMS, the real danger is when it progress into one of its more serious forms:.

“That lack of oxygen causes a number of problems in every organ system in the body,”

says Dr. Alan Oram, an emergency physician and medical advisor to the American Mountain Guides Association. “
It can cause pulmonary edema and cerebral edema, which are both life-threatening complications from the lack of air.”

Some form of AMS directly caused 8% of deaths from 1950 to 2009 on peaks above 6,000 meters, including Everest, according to research by Elizabeth Hawley and Richard Salisbury at the Himalayan database.

Falls

Falls can happen from a myriad of causes, but most often from human error. It’s possible there’s some conflation between fall deaths and AMS deaths, too. “Any time you have a lack of oxygen, your ability to make decisions and for your brain to function normally is impaired,” Oram says.

32% of extreme high-altitude deaths come from falls. “AMS may be a hidden factor that was not known or accurately reported; for example, AMS may well have caused a few falls during descents from summit bids of the 8000m peaks, even though it went unreported,” Hawley and Salisbury write in their report Himalaya by the Numbers.

Avalanches

Avalanches happen due to instability in the snow pack, which is caused by variations in precipitation, wind and temperature over time. The most common type of avalanche is a slab avalanche, where a large, consolidated layer of snow separates from a hard sliding surface (like a layer of ice) and falls down the slope. Some avalanches happen on their own, and others are triggered by humans when they travel across a weak point in the snowpack.

35% of deaths on Himalayan peaks above 6,000 meters are caused by avalanches. Interestingly, avalanches account for 46% of deaths for hired personnel (Sherpas and guides), likely because they spend more time setting up equipment in avalanche terrain and are less likely to fall prey to altitude illness or falls. Avalanches cause 29% of deaths for regular expedition members, be they independent climbers or clients in a guided expedition.

Exposure, Frostbite And Exhaustion

These factors combined cause about 7% of fatalities on high Himalayan peaks.

It’s common for many of these causes to co-occur–you get exhausted and have AMS, then you fall, or you’re exhausted and less able to take care of yourself and succumb to frostbite.

On Everest–as on any mountain–science, random chance, and human behavior all come together. Sometimes it results in summit success and a safe descent, and other times, in tragedy.

Apple Leak Confirms 'All Glass' New iPhone

Last month the world’s most accurate Apple AAPL -0.06% tipster revealed the company is working on a radical ‘all glass’ new iPhone. The news was met with cynicism and excitement in equal measure, and now a major Apple supplier has confirmed it…
Speaking at its annual shareholder meeting Allen Horng, chairman and chief executive of long time iPhone chassis maker Catcher Technology , said Apple will make its 2017 iPhone using a glass casing.
Breaking down the radical shift, Horng said using a glass chassis would prove expensive and that Catcher requires “advanced processing technology” to pull it off. He also explained that the chassis would need to be reinforced by a metal frame.

All glass iPhone concept by Martin Hajek, courtesy of nowhereelse.fr
The move is expected to go far beyond Apple’s previous glass backed iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S and rival Samsung’s recent Galaxy S and Note lines by using a single piece of glass for the whole exterior. Pull that off and Apple would certainly have a smartphone that looked like no other.
But it isn’t all good news.

Horng said that “As far as I know, only one [iPhone] model will adopt glass casing next year” and, given the range’s pricing, that would suggest the iPhone 8 Plus (Apple is expected to skip the iPhone 7S moniker for the iPhone’s 10th anniversary) or even the hotly rumoured iPhone pro
On top of this the iPhone 8 is tipped to transition to an OLED like many of its rivals, and feature an ‘Edgeless Display’ that eliminates the phone’s famously large top of bottom (chin and forehead) bezels.

All of which adds up to a device which sounds like it will more than makeup for theincreasingly controversial omissions anddepressingly familiar design of the upcoming iPhone 7…

Real Madrid were crowned champions of Europe for the 11th time after defeating Atletico Madrid in a dramatic penalty shootout in Milan

Sergio Ramos' controversial finish put Zinedine Zidane's side ahead before Atletico striker Antoine Griezmann missed a penalty.

However, substitute Yannick Carrasco sent the Champions League final into extra-time with a close-range finish.

Cristiano Ronaldo struck the winning penalty after Juanfran had missed.

Zidane's tactics deliver silverware

Zidane, a Champions League winner with Real as a player in 2002, replaced Rafael Benitez as manager at the Bernabeu in January, with Real still reeling from a bruising 4-0 hammering by Barcelona earlier in the season and facing the prospect of a second successive campaign without major silverware.

The 43-year-old finishes it as the seventh different manager to deliver a European Cup to Real's hierarchy.

As stylish as his side were going forward, they were just as impressive at the back as Atletico's attacking duo of Griezmann and Fernando Torres were starved of service before the interval.

Gareth Bale and Ronaldo repeatedly dropped back into midfield to help cut out the supply routes to Griezmann and Torres, while Karim Benzema also typified Real's work rate by dropping back to defend.

Atletico were the better side after the break yet fortune was on Real's side as Pepe's rash challenge on Torres went unpunished and Stefan Savic stabbed another golden chance wide.

Illicit flow of funds moves thousands of millions of dollars in Africa – Thabo Mbeki

The continent of Africa loses over $50 billion dollars each year as a result of the illicit flow of funds, former president of South Africa,  Thabo Mbeki told the meeting of the Group of African Governors affiliated with the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, known as the African Caucus. “Africa faces the great challenge of large volumes of capital leaving the continent illicitly – money that our continent needs to address the challenges of development.

Thabo Mbeki
We, as Africans, have an absolute obligation to act on this to ensure that the rest of the world (the destination of these illicit movements of funds), by acting together, will help stop this drain of resources which belong to the continent that needs them so badly,” said Thabo Mbeki.
Mbeki is now head of the High-Level Panel on Illicit Financial Flows From Africa created by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the African Union, which did exemplary work and analysed the magnitude of the problem on the continent, producing a report now known as the “Mbeki Report”.

The former President of South Africa maintains that it is possible to put an end to these issues with proper monitoring of the transactions of large commercial companies. Moreover, he points out that in order to combat this phenomenon interventions are needed from institutions such as tax authorities, customs, central banks, financial intelligence units for combating money laundering, audit and anti-corruption authorities and the police.

It is clear to Thabo Mbeki that there is also a need for appropriate legislation to give these institutions the mandate they need to cooperate in the fight against illicit capital outflows and so that countries can also cooperate at the regional level, given that some of these outflows move across shared borders.

“Our governments lose large amounts of revenue owed to the state due to the unlawful outflow of significant capital that we need for development,” he pointed out. Thabo Mbeki says that it is imperative to build the global architecture required for a focussed offensive to put an end to these illicit outflows, within the framework of UN processes, in order to avoid a piecemeal approach to the problem and to enable supervision by an appropriate UN body.

How Infinix mobile is changing Africa’s smartphone ecosystem

The mobile market in recent time has witnessed an influx of various phone brands, but neither of the high-tech companies has reached their goals in the Nigerian marketplace. However, InfinixMobility has marked its entry with a significant turning point in the telecommunication ecosystem. Recently, in collaboration with Google, InfinixMobility launched  Infinix  Hot 2 as the first official Android One product with lollipop 5.1 in Africa.

Infinix Zero, Hot, Hot, Note, Zero2 and Hot2 Android one
In its three years, Infinix Mobility has built a strong reputation in the Nigerian market and globally from the Middle East, Europe and South East Asia regions.
Technology and innovation at fingertips
By April, a technology storm hit Nigeria;  African market is a special market—facing energy issues, Bruno Li, Country Manager for Nigeria, stated, “As a High-tech company, it is our duty to deliver product that brings concrete solutions to the market.” Infinix Hot note a 2 days battery life smartphone and super fast charging technology (30 min charge 7 hours use) was released by the manufacturer.
June 2015, the honourable successor of Infinix Zero series, Zero 2 delivered high specs and premium design, first of its kind on the continent. With its 5 inches HD Super Amoled and an ultra efficient 13 MP camera, Zero 2 brings to Africa bright and sharp vision of the High tech industry. Talking about design, the device weighs only 118g.
The biggest surprise is the unique material selected by Infinix R&D. In fact Zero 2 comes with a Kevlar battery back cover that is used in aeronautic equipments, safety and military industry. Kevlar is highly resistive against shock and five times lighter than steel.
This time, Infinix decided to launch the device in the most prestigious university of Nigeria, Unilag University. Bruno Li, Infinix Nigeria Country Manager said “Being closer to our fans and end-users is what makes us understanding the market. We like to interact with our users either online or offline. “
Infinix Mobility partnered with Google, Jumia and MTN, three pillars of the High-tech ecosystem. Infinix launched Infinix HOT 2, the 1st official Android One product with lollipop 5.1 in Africa.   Moreover the device comes with a 2GB RAM which will be a standard for the market. The operating system will be getting an update to the latest Android version up to two years. With the Hot 2, the largest African operator MTN is offering 1GB data for 500 Naira to fit consumers need in data connection. Finally HOT 2 has break new records with 30  000 units sold online in seconds.
A brand built by industry people:
The device is a brand built by people who understand the industry. Thus Infinix Mobility has set a benchmark and here is how. Infinix Mobility is a Hong Kong based company Headquartered in Shanghai for its research and development (R&D) center, and Paris as design center. While Shenzhen the electronic hub of the world is Infinix production center. To have a better understanding of Infinix Mobility there is no doubt that its success definitely comes from experienced executives of the industry.
Benjamin Jiang, CEO of Infinix Mobile, is an art bachelor graduate of Hefei Technology. He may answers questions around why Infinix smartphones designs are so trendy, catchy and unique (i.e. Infinix zero 2 made of Kevlar). In 2003, Jiang joined the Bird  Company Limited, pioneer Chinese mobile phone company, as Head of  Project Management.
The following year, the company was listed in Shanghai Stock Exchange later the company received a government subsidy of 14 million Yuan.  By 2007, he joined Longcheer Holdings,  a  leading Chinese mobile handset design house as  General Manager of International Business Unit.  Since 2012 Jiang has been the CEO of Infinix Mobility.
Online smartphone and emerging markets:
Finding the right partners at the right time and place is also part of the smartphone success story. When Infinix launched the Infinix Zero last year, it made Infinix Zero the leader and best selling online smartphone in Africa.
Nigerian consumers loved the phone and bought 150,000 units. The phone made with gorilla glass and sporting an octa-core processor from Mediatek, a High Definition, HD   screen and a 13 Mega Pixel camera with flash LED.      The device brought innovation to the Nigerian market. The success in Nigeria was later extended to East-Africa, Middle East and South East Asia.
In November 2014, the smartphone manufacturer set Christmas mood with Infinix HOT. The device seems to match Nigerians taste of 5.0 inches screen, pocket friendly and colorful smartphone—yellow, red, white, black and pink—that reach 100  000 hands. The worldwide German statistics institute Gesellschaft für Konsumforschung showed that Infinix HOT raised the bar and surpassed brands like Samsung and Nokia in Q1 2015.

Court Jails Former NIMASA DG, Omatseye For Five Years

The Federal High Court Sitting in Lagos has sentenced the former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Raymond Omatseye, to five years in prison.

Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia convicted and sentenced Mr Omatseye after finding him guilty on 24 out of 27 counts charge bordering on bid rigging and contract splitting

The EFCC had charged the former NIMASA DG  with N1.5 billion contract scam.

At the last adjourned date on March 14,counsels representing the prosecution and defence had both adopted their final written addresses in court.

Counsel to the accused, Mr Edoka Onyeke, in his address urged the court to discountenance the arguments of prosecution and dismiss the charge against his client.

He argued that the prosecution had not been able to proof its case beyond reasonable doubt.

Onyeke said that out of the 27-count charge preferred against the accused, 25 dealt strictly with the issue of approval of contract above the threshold while the remaining two were on bid rigging.

He maintained that the prosecution did not prove that exhibit PD 16, which it relied on in dealing with the issue of threshold, got to NIMASA at the time the contracts were awarded while he urged the court to discharge his client.

In his argument, the prosecutor, Mr Godwin Obla, urged the court to hold that the case of the prosecution was “as clear as daylight, and had also been proven beyond reasonable doubt”.

He had submitted that the facts of the case spoke volumes, stating that the accused in exhibit PD 1 and 2 clearly articulated his threshold for goods as not exceeding 2.5 million Naira and for works as not exceeding five million Naira.

Obla said that count 25 of the charge, which dealt on threshold was straightforward while he added that sufficient evidence had been adduced to show that the accused awarded contracts above thresholds.

Taking My Bath is My Annoying Routine” – Simi

Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye, popularly known as Simi is a singer and songwriter who has found her feet in the Nigerian music industry.

She was ten when she wrote her first tune and she had sang as a member of the teenage church choir has finally broken free to produce some great songs like ‘Jamb Question’ ‘Love don’t care’ etc..

Simi was a kind of a tomboy while growing up because she had three elder brothers and from her mum. she was the only girl and last born.

So I used to like sneakers, baggy jeans etc. My dad spoilt my brothers and I, but it was fun. When I was nine years, my parents separated and so that was really a tough time for us, because we had to grow up faster. We came through it and we are okay.” She said.

A lot of ladies enjoy taking their baths but Simi has a different view about taking bath, it is very annoying to her.

She said about her annoying routine:

“That will be taking my bath. It’s not that I don’t like bathing but I love to multi-task. At times I might be brushing my teeth while also operating my system or reading. But when you get into the bathroom, you just can’t do any other thing.”

Doctors Address Impacts Of Smoking On Family

The Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria has identified smoking habits as a setback that affects the family both morally and financially and invariably the society through air pollution.

This was the submission of the medical personnel during the World Family Doctors’ Day at the health talk on the impact of smoking on the family and society and the benefits of cessation of smoking.

Held in Jos, Plateau State, a family doctor and registrar at the Bingham University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Timothy Ureme, explained the effects of smoking on the family.

Apart from the health implications which smoking has on the family, a family physician, Dr. Salihu Danjuma, also highlighted its financial and moral effects on the society and the family.

Apart from the health talk and awareness campaign on the impact of smoking on the family by the physicians, the doctors also engaged in a rally, health walk, and public health lectures within the major hospitals and public secondary schools within Jos metropolis.

This was with the aim of enlightening the public on the dangers associated with smoking and its impact on the family and society.

For the past six years, the world organisation of family doctors has been celebrating the World Family Doctors’ Day to highlight the role and contribution of family doctors in health care systems around the world.

Kogi Governor Declares War Against Kidnappers

Kogi State Governor, Mr Yahaya Bello, has declared a total war on the kidnappers and cultists that have laid siege on the state.

The Governor’s decision was contained in a statement on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Mr Abdulkarim Abdullahi.

The Governor’s declaration followed the abduction of the traditional ruler of Elete community, Aminu AhmedAku, in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of the state in northern Nigeria by yet to be identified persons.

Receiving the sad news like others in recent times, he decried the incident which was on the increase even though his efforts to reduce crime rate in the state from what it was before he was inaugurated have been yielding positive result.

Governor Bello vowed to ensure that those behind the recent immoral acts were fished out and made to face the full weight of the law.

He said the kidnap of the monarch ranked among the high profile cases of such acts in a very short time.

The statement further stated that the Governor had donated 12 operational vehicles to the law enforcement agencies in the state to combat crimes while he urged them to step up action by embarking on aggressive man hunt on criminals in the state who have constituted themselves as a threat to lives through kidnapping.

Meanwhile, some kidnap cases were recorded in Kogi State in the last few months in which some victims are still under the custody of the kidnappers who are demanding for ransom before they are released.

U.S. Says Boko Haram May Be Sending Fighters To Islamic State In Libya

A senior U.S. official said on Friday that there are signs that Nigeria’s Boko Haram terrorist group is sending fighters to join Islamic State in Libya to increase cooperation between the two groups.

Nigeria has asked the United States to sell it aircraft to fight Boko Haram, which has been waging a seven-year insurgency in the north and last year pledged loyalty to Islamic State, which is active in Syria, Iraq and Libya.

Little is known about the extent of cooperation between the two radical Islamist groups.

But Western governments worry that Islamic State’s growing presence in north Africa and ties with Boko Haram could herald a push south into the vast, lawless Sahel region and create a springboard for wider attacks.

Longer Than Thought

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, said there were “reports” that Boko Haram fighters were going to Libya, where Islamic State had established a large presence, taking advantage of security chaos.

“We’ve seen that Boko Haram’s ability to communicate has become more effective. They seem to have benefited from assistance from Daesh,” he said, using a derogatory name for Islamic State. There were also reports of material and logistical aid.

“So these are all elements that suggests that there are more contacts and more cooperation, and this is again something that we are looking at very carefully because we want to cut it off,” Blinken told reporters in Nigeria.

Blinken said the United States was helping Nigeria in its fight against Boko Haram with armoured vehicles. But he declined to comment on a request by Nigeria to sell it aircraft.

U.S. officials told Reuters this month that Washington wanted to sell up to 12 A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft to Nigeria in recognition of President Muhammadu Buhari’s army reforms. Congress needs to approve the deal.

President Muhammadu Buhari had said that the nation was “not bothered initially, of what intentional connection Boko Haram has until they claimed that they are loyal to ISIS”.

He associated the crisis with incidents in the Sahel region, saying that what happened in Libya in the Sahel, in terms of trained personnel and weapons, had compounded the problem, making it last longer than thought.

He also said that Nigeria’s border with neighbouring countries, mostly in the eastern region, was difficult to monitor.

“We have more than 1,500 kilometres neighbourhood in an area where donkeys, oxen, camels can cross any time of the day. It is not easy to guide such borders,” President Buhari added

MANCHESTER UNITED AND MOURINHO SET TO OFFER £34M DEAL TO IBRAHIMOVIC

The Swedish striker is out of contract since leaving Paris St-Germain at the end of the season and could be reunited with the Special One at Old Trafford this Summer

Manchester United are ready to make Zlatan Ibrahimovic a massive offer to become one of Jose Mourinho's key signings this summer, Goal has learned.
The Swedish striker is looking for a new club after calling time on his four-year spell with French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
And while he could yet decide to move to MLS for a huge payday, United are set to present him with a deal which would allow them to blow any American deal out of the water.
Ibrahimovic is said to be looking for a contract which wo sum.uld see him earn a similar net salary to his €350,000 weekly wage at PSG, and advisors working on United's behalf are putting together a package which could persuade the 34-year-old to move to Manchester

As part of the deal, Ibrahimovic would receive an £8 million tax-free signing-on bonus, with a £250,000 weekly salary to come over the course of his 12-month contract. He would also be offered an option to sign for a second year as part of the initial agreement, taking his potential total earnings over two years to £34m.
The front man, Sweden's record goalscorer in international football, may yet decide to choose MLS over the Premier League, with his wife Helena Seger having a sportswear business which would benefit massively from a move to the United States rather than Manchester.
However, United are hoping that the lure of a massive contract and a continued career in European football will be enough to secure a deal to bring one of the world's most recognisable football faces to Old Trafford.
Ibrahimovic has won 12 league titles in his last 13 years, including four successive Ligue 1 crowns with PSG. He previously won one of his three Serie A titles with Inter under the guidance of Jose Mourinho, who is due to be announced as United's new manager imminently.

CDQ Dumps Teebillz As His Manager

CDQ signed on to Tunji Balogun aka Tee Billz’s 323 Entertainment management group back in January 2016.

In a new interview with Hip TV, CDQ confirms that he has now parted ways with his manager Teebillz – when he could no longer reach him.

He said,

“About me and Teebillz, I mean, Me and Teebillz are still good. Still cool, we are family.. But I’m straight like that, I am real.

I have not been able to talk to him for a very long time – since the incident that happened. I tried to message him but it wasn’t going through and everything.

So i had to move on with my life.. You know.

I mean, I’ve got ambition that I’m chasing, so for no reason would i allow anything to lock that down.

I am a goal getter and I can’t allow anything to slow me down.

So that’s it! Me and Teebillz are still cool, we are still family. Anytime we see, we would still holla, but at least, I’m a street guy, I have got to move, gotta move, gotta move.

That is what matters the most. My career comes first before anything else.”

FC Ifeanyi Ubah hands Dobrev N100m for Mid-season Transfers

Plans friendly with West Ham and top Chinese club

FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s technical adviser, Mitko Dobrev, has been handed a whopping N100 million war chest to rejuvenate the team during the mid-season break.

This is one of the major steps taken by the management of the club to keep the team on track towards the realization of the set objectives this season – top of which is winning the league or a continental ticket at the very least. The Bulgarian has been given the approval and necessary financial backing to hire top quality players to strengthen the weak departments in the team after a  review of the team’s performance in the first stanza of the Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) season.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah is also billed to play some high-profile international friendly matches during the break. Top on the card is a planned friendly game with English Premier League side, West Ham United FC next week Sunday. Further arrangements are being finalised for another friendly match against a top Chinese Super League side. The games against West Ham and the Chinese club would enable Dobrev to blend the team ahead of the second stanza of the NPFL season.

Unfolding the plans, Chairman of the club, Mr. Chukwuma Ubah said that the team is a work in progress and will not rest on its oars until the realisation of FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s dreams.

The team has not done badly so far in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season. There were some unimpressive results, especially on the road. But as a positive thinking team, we will definitely be doing a bit of business to strengthen the team during the mid-season. We have invested in the club and we will continue to invest in it because we have our set objectives. We have given Dobrev the free hand and the necessary funds to bolster the team with new players during the break. We are not stopping at that. We have also arranged some high profile friendly matches with some foreign clubs we are finalising partnerships with.”

FC Ifeanyi Ubah will play against West Ham United FC and then one of the big teams in the Chinese Super League. It is a big package which we hope to build on, in partnership with these international clubs for mutual benefits”.

“We are front-runners for the league title. Although we experienced some hiccups after we topped the table, we want to fortify and re-launch our target. The second stanza will demand a lot of hard work from everybody in the team. The management is working very hard and so we expect all hands to be on deck,” Chukwuma Ubah said.

Housewives Torture, Break Limbs of 2 Year Old Son of Mate

Police in Kano have arrested two housewives, Zainab and Hafsatu Musa, for allegedly torturing and breaking the legs and arms of a two-year-old boy.

The women are married to the same man but the child belongs to the third wife, who had packed out of the house.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Magaji Majiya, said the incident occurred on Friday. According to him, when the women’s husband, Murtala Musa, came back home about 8pm, he met his two-year-boy laying in critical condition.

The PPRO said on seeing the condition of the boy, Musa rushed him to the hospital where it was confirmed that his legs were broken and that blood was oozing from his nose and ears, while doctors said he might have problems with his eyes.

Musa, a resident of Gulu town in Rimin Gado Local Government Area of the state, was said to have divorced his third wife, who left his two-year-old boy. But the man handed the boy over to his senior wife, Zainab, to take care of him. But unknown to him, the boy is usually subjected to torture by the two wives, because he was not their child.

After their arrest, the state Police Commissioner, Abbati Dikko, directed that they be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

Already wife of the police commissioner, who is also the Chairperson of the Police Wives’ Association against Child Abuse, Hajiya Aishatu Diko, has intervened in the case. FLASH| Boko Haram’s Chief Bomb Maker Killed by Shekau’s Bodyguard

In what will be described as a major breakthrough in the clearance and rescue operation by the Nigerian military and to also confirm that all is not well within the Boko Haram terrorists camp, as their chief bomb maker and a high ranking terrorist, was shot dead today.

The chief bomb maker, apart from his high status in the command structure of the Boko Haram terrorists, he was one of their capable hands involved in making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), coming after their chief scientist, called Abu RPG (who has been killed long ago).

The chief bomb maker was killed by one of the body guard of the Boko Haram terrorists leader, Abubakar Shekau as he was about to run away just like several others are doing because of the intensity of Operation CRACKDOWN.

In a related development, one Julelebeeb who was appointed to take over is now completely blind because his two eyes were shattered by shrapnel, in the process of preparing an IED to consolidate his appointment.

There is no doubt, this development has dealt a devastating blow on the terrorists capacity on IED preparation, suicide bombing and their ability to sustain their criminal acts.

We would like to reassure the public that our troops are continuing with the clearance and rescue operations successfully in order to completely clear Boko Haram terrorists wherever they might be hiding.
You are kindly requested disseminate to the public through your medium.

Thank you for your kind and usual cooperation.

Afenifere backs Fayose's ban on Herdsmen activities in Ekiti state

Yoruba socio-cultural organization, Afenifere, has thrown its weight behind Governor Ayo Fayose's decision to ban herdsmen activities in Ekiti state. Afenifere's support is contained in a statement signed by its Publicity secretary, Yinka Odumakin. Read the statement below...

Our attention has been drawn to the courageous move by Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose to ban cattle grazing in Ekiti State.

The action of the governor is a timely move to strengthen the civilisation that places higher premium on human lives above cows.We have sacrificed enough blood in the unending cycle of blood -letting by Fulani herdsmen the latest being those killed in Ekiti two days ago.

The responsible action of the governor should jolt the Federal Government that has appeared largely indifferent to the murderous activities of the Fulani herdsmen to act responsibly on this matter.

We fully endorse this implementation of the recommendation of the 2014 National on RANCHING as against the grazing reserves being canvased in certain quarters. Yinka Odumakin National publicity Secretary

6 Tips To Follow If You Want To Become An A’List Artist In Nigeria

Let us not pretend as if we don’t know hardship inspires music, most people walk to the studio to create junk for us, and tag it “my latest single”.

Music they say is the food of the soul, but nothing leads faster to depression than bad music.

Just because you want to escape the hardship in the country, you then save a little studio money, to once again add to the list of wacked songs out there. My brother “There is God oh

If you are reading this, and deep within you know studio session money is almost complete, so you can once again add to the tremendous list of wacked songs we are suffering from in this country, biko!! I beg you standing on Amadioha’s left foot, don’t do this to us, don’t release that song, just use the money and eat enough ‘nkwuobi’ and it will do you well.

Wait! Is making it in the Nigerian music industry that hard? Funny enough it’s not, if not, there won’t be room for a Davido, Olamide, Kcee and some of our A’ List artist.

I will be sharing these tips on how to make hit songs in Nigeria with you all, as friends, because believe me, there are little things that we observe but choses to ignore. Here they come people.

1. Nigerians Love A Good Beat

While a song consist of various compartment, from the verses to the chorus, hook and the rest bla bla bla, one can’t overlook the impact, a good beat has on a song.

Please, what did Ycee say in ‘Omo Alhaji’? virtually nothing, he was just repeating the same thing over and over again. And guess what, the song was a hit, not just any hit, a MEGA HIT!

A hit that shot YCEE straight to being an A’ list artist. Are we still in doubt of the amazing prowlers of an amazing beat? Was it not in that same ‘Omo Alhaji’ beats that Jesse Jagz did an awesome rap freestyle and once again, the freestyle became a massive hit amassing hundredth of thousands downloads.

2. Have A Signature Word

Most of our A’ list artist can’t deliver a song without including their signature lines, so I guess you should join them. Please and please don’t ask me why oh….. Just believe that if it is working for them it will work for you.

Popular among them are:- Leggo is for Timaya, ‘Yes oh’ ‘nothing day happen’ for 2Baba, kokolet, ‘koko master’ for D’banj, ‘Whaysayy’ for Patoranking… See eh, I can go on and on, there are too many and I am pretty sure you know them all.

So chose your own, even if it’s ‘Agama lizard’, you want to adopt as your signature line, just stay true to it, and make sure you constantly say it in your song till even you yourself is tired of saying it.

3. Please Don’t Forget To Rhyme

Honestly, is there any hit song in Naija without a strong presence of a rhyme pattern? Just think of a hit song, and automatically the rhyme pattern comes to you. Watch out peeps for the next A’ list artist that will join the fold, the YBNL first lady Temmie, wow!! She totally understands, the rhymes impact on potential hit songs, and she filled her first single with so many of them. Chai, Temmie, even if rhymes is maggi, ‘your own too much naw’

4. Feature An A’List Artist

Now this is like the most important of them all, you can follow all the above tips, and still not make it as an A’ List artist. Why? It’s simple, your name is relatively unknownand nobody waste their precious MB on an unknown artist.

Now imagine, the ‘Osinachi’ song without Phyno on it, there is a strong tendency that despite how good that song is, it would not have gained the necessary publicity. But Humblesmith I guess knew already of this rule, and he saved more money to add a known name to the song, and boom!! We have a hit in ‘osinachi’ and then the remix with Davido skyrockets him into the heart of almost all Nigerians.

5. Relax, Don’t Be Too Serious

We know you want to be a star so badly, we know that somehow, you are now seeing music as an escape from your predicament. But please and please don’t be too serious when you are in the studio.

Relax, a hit does not come in direct proportion to your seriousness, go and ask Terry G, Timaya, Davido, Wizkid damn it!!, why pick names. Go and ask them all, all those that have made hit song, and they will confirm this my little secret.

Relax my dear and do your thing. If a song like “Oga Don Jazzy, when you go marry” can become popular, who says you can’t make your own hit song.

6. Good Promotion & Publicity For Your Song

Some Artistes can’t blow.. Believe me!!! Imagine, You saved up so much money so that Don Jazzy or Young John can produced your Song, after achieving that, you can’t even save up to get your Music to the World using Blogs and Radio.

My Brother, you go waste money tire, keep hiding those songs that can change your Life on your phone and be sharing it with bluetooth when Naijaloaded can share to over 2million Nigerians all over the world within 1 week.

Don’t be stingy, help your career.

And finally, Here is a Disclaimer, If you finally follows all of the above tips, yet ‘e no work’ or ‘you no blow’, my brother, go to the village and beg them, ‘their juju strong pass my tips’.

Government Should Declare Amnesty for Looters – Senator

Senator Bassey Albert Akpan

Senator Bassey Albert Akpan (PDP, Akwa Ibom North-East) who is the Chairman of Senate Committee on Gas on Monday advocated special amnesty for owners of Nigeria’s stolen money stashed in the various banks all over the world in order to generate enough forex to drive the nation’s economy, PUNCH reports.

The Senator who expressed his opinion to journalists in his office said that if the government declare amnesty for looters, up to 70 percent of the “billions of dollars” stashed in foreign countries can be recovered and “a lot of foreign exchange can be generated to fund our local consumption”.

Bassey who is a former Commisioner of Finance during Senator Godswill Akpabio‘s tenure as governor of Akwa Ibom State described as unnecessary, the current pain which an average Nigerian was being subjected to when the government have what it takes to turn the economy around in their favour.

Read his comments below:

The time has come when we have to think outside the box and my own position is this, it is possible that the government can declare amnesty on stolen money. Let every Nigerian that has taken money out of this country be given amnesty to bring back the money and invest in the country.

We have hundreds of billions of dollars stashed outside the country in the international banks which are being used to drive their economy. Other countries are enjoying this money while we are suffering in Nigeria.

When owners of the Nigeria’s stolen foreign currencies bring them back to the country as a result of the amnesty, a lot of foreign exchange can be generated to fund our local consumption and we can set target.

Why are we suffering in the midst of plenty? Amnesty was created for militancy, we should create amnesty for anybody that has taken money outside this country so that they can invest them in the country. We can generate a hundred billion dollar in the process in less than six months.

We need enough forex to fund our importation, rebuild our industries, establish capacity locally and import raw materials for industries before thinking of exporting finished products.

Where we are as a country now, we should begin to look inward.

One thing is to fight corruption another thing is to let your battle as a fighter of corruption yield the appropriate results. Our economy based on the statistics available to us has gone into full blown recession. There is reduction in revenue collection based on the basis of oil export because of the dwindling global oil crisis.

The cost of producing a barrel of crude in Nigeria is about $35 per barrel and it is being sold for $48. That means that as a country we earn less than $13 per barrel.

Countries like Saudi Arabia, and Iran and other co-OPEC countries had fallen back on their quantity to meet up their demands but in Nigeria, where we are losing 800 barrels of oil per day when we are also supposed to be boosting our production.

We are expected to use income from oil to develop other sectors of the economy. That is why I believe very strongly that, since some countries had also done it in the past, Nigeria also needs to grant amnesty to those who are in possession of our money that we need to develop

Lionel Andrés "LeoMessi (Spanish pronunciation: [ljoˈnel anˈdɾes ˈmesi]; born 24 June 1987) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as aforward for Spanish club Barcelona and the Argentina national team. He is often considered the best player in the world and is rated by many in the sport as the greatest of all time. Messi is the only football player in history to win the FIFA World Player of the Year/FIFABallon d'Or five times, four of which he won consecutively, and the first player to win three European Golden Shoes. With Barcelona he has won seven La Liga titles and four UEFA ChampionsLeague titles, as well as three Copa del Rey titles. A prolific goalscorer, Messi holds the records for most goals scored in La LigaLa Liga season (50), a calendar year (91), a single season (73), a Champions League match (five), andmost Champions League seasons (five).

Born and raised in central Argentina, Messi was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency as a child. At age 13, he relocated to Spain to join Barcelona, who agreed to pay for his medical treatment. After a fast progression through Barcelona's youth academy, Messi made his competitive debut aged 17 in October 2004. Despite being injury-prone during his early career, he established himself as an integral player for the club within the next three years, finishing 2007 as a finalist for both the Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year award, a feat he repeated the following year. His first uninterrupted campaign came in the 2008–09 season, during which he helped Barcelona achieve the first treblein Spanish football. At 22 years old, Messi won the Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year award by record voting margins.

He again struggled with injury during the following two seasons, twice finishing second for the Ballon d'Or behind Cristiano Ronaldo, his perceivedcareer rival. Messi regained his best form during the 2014–15 campaign, breaking the all-time goalscoring records in both La Liga and theChampionsLeague in November 2014, and led Barcelona to a historic second treble.

As an Argentine international, Messi has represented his country in six major tournaments. At youth level, he won the2005 FIFA World Youth Championship, finishing the tournament as its best player and top scorer, and an Olympic gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics. His style of play as a diminutive, left-footed dribbler drew comparisons with compatriot Diego Maradona, who declared the teenager his successor. After making his senior debut in August 2005, Messi became the youngest Argentine to play and score in a FIFA World Cup during the2006 edition, and reached the final of the 2007 Copa América, where he was named young player of the tournament.

As the squad's captain since August 2011, he led Argentina to the finals of the 2014 World Cup and the 2015 Copa América, and both times was selected as player of the tournament.

At the end of the 2014–15 season, of players who had played at least two seasons in the Premier League, Agüero had the highest goals per minute ratio in the history of the competition since its formation in 1992, averaging a goal every 109 minutes.[6] He also holds the joint-record for the most goals scored in a single Premier League match – five – and the fastest to do so, in 23 minutes and 34 seconds of match time.[7] He is the highest South American scorer in the history of the Premier League, and reached 100 goals in the division faster than any player other than Alan Shearer.

At international level, Agüero represented the Argentina under-20 team at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in2005 and in 2007, winning both tournaments.[8] Agüero played at the2008 Beijing Olympics, scoring two goals in the 3–0 semi-final win against Brazil as Argentina went on to win the gold medal.[9] Agüero was selected to represent Argentina in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the 2011 CopaAmérica, the2014 FIFA World Cup, and the 2015 CopaAmérica.
